SUMMER 2017 JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM

The West Windsor Tennis Program provides Summer Tennis lessons and coaching to youth ages 4-17 years old.  NOTE: The summer session will be held at Duck Pond Park until approximately the end of July and then move to Hendrickson Tennis Complex once the new court construction is complete.

Program registration is online only through West Windsor Recreation Community Pass. For questions regarding program registration call the West Windsor Recreation at 609-799-6141. Class sizes are limited to six students per court, are first-come first-serve and many classes fill-up quickly.

To avoid disappointment sign-up early! If a class is full use the wait list option as it may be opened to accommodate more players.

No make-up lessons unless rainout or cancelled. Rainouts will be made up at the end of the session or different lesson. All classes will be limited to 12 students maximum (6 students per court). Your lesson fee includes tennis balls.

JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM LEVELS & PREREQUISITES

To maintain a level of consistency in the lessons please read the class descriptions and prerequisites outlined below when registering. This will help to ensure in the proper development of your child and enjoyment for the entire class.

LEVEL PREREQUISITE LESSON FOCUS
Pee-Wees Ages 4, 5 & 6 Designed to help build tennis skills such as eye-hand coordination, balance, holding the racquet correctly, and basic strokes. FUN will be emphasized!
Beginner New to tennis or needs further improvement to existing stroke swing, consistency and placement before moving to next level. Will focus on the parts of the tennis racquet and court, introduction to the different strokes, proper swing technique, footwork and various fun games.
Advanced Beginner Familiar with all major strokes and ability to rally but still needs stroke technique and consistency improvement. Will emphasize grips, stroke production (groundstrokes, volleys, overheads, serves, return of serves), footwork, and the ability to rally and play points.
Intermediate Familiar with all major strokes, scoring, positioning, singles & doubles. Able to rally, serve, return serve and play out points consistently. Will stress stroke mechanics, shot selection, placement, depth, spins, strategy, footwork, and point/match play.
Advanced Open to all levels. We also recommend competitive junior high, high school or tournament players take private lessons. See Private Lessons page for details. More individualized instruction geared toward improving specific parts of your game.

SUMMER HALF DAY TENNIS CAMP
DATES: 10 WEEKLY SESSIONS START JUNE 19th

West Windsor Summer Junior  Youth Tennis Camp

  • Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
  • Players will be grouped based on level. Ages 7-17.
  • Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate levels.
  • Players should wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel, drinks and snacks.
  • DAILY SCHEDULE
    9:00am - 9:30 Dynamic warm-up and stretching.
    9:30 - 10:30 Stroke progressions, stroke mechanics, drills, and footwork.
    10:30 - 10:40 Snack break/rest period.
    10:40 - 11:15 Point play games using strokes learned in daily drills.
    11:15 - 12:00 Supervised games and/or match play focus on strategy, positioning, singles & doubles.
    CAMP FEE
    $155 per week includes a Camp T-shirt.
    You may choose one week or multiple weeks.
