SPRING 2023 JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM

The West Windsor Tennis Program provides Spring Tennis lessons and coaching to youth ages 6-17 years old. All lessons are directed by PTR certified tennis coaches Sat Jagtap and Sunil Jagtap. All lessons are held at the Hendrickson Drive Tennis Complex located across from the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in West Windsor, New Jersey. Click here for location

Class sizes are limited and many classes fill-up quickly.

To avoid disappointment sign-up early! If a class is full please use the wait list option as a spot may open or we may create a new class to fill demand.

In case of inclement weather we will update class status by phone call or text if time is limited or else by email. Please make sure the cell phone number and email address used when registering can also be used when trying to contact you regarding class cancellations and rescheduling so there are no issues. For any contact information corrections please email us.

No make-up lessons unless rainout or cancelled. Rainouts will be made up at the end of the session or different lesson.

JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM LEVELS & PREREQUISITES

•  To maintain a level of consistency in the lessons please read the class descriptions and prerequisites outlined below before registering. Also please do not register your child based on convenience only and not skill level. This will help to ensure in the proper development for your child and enjoyment for the entire class.

•  If you are not sure of your child's level please contact us before registering to avoid any class change issues once the session starts. Coaches reserve the right to move a player to a different group if they are not in the correct level class if space allows else that player may be withdrawn.

LEVEL PREREQUISITE LESSON FOCUS
Pee-Wee Age 6 - note for the Advanced Beginner level Pee Wee class student must have had prior tennis lesson experience. Designed to help build tennis skills such as eye-hand coordination, balance, holding the racquet correctly, and basic strokes. FUN will be emphasized!
Beginner New to tennis or needs further improvement to existing stroke swing, consistent ball contact, body swing coordination and ability to hit the ball over the net within the boundaries before moving to the next level. Will review parts of the tennis racquet & court, introduction to the different strokes, proper swing technique using repetition, ball contact position & various fun games.
Advanced Beginner Familiar with all the major strokes but needs to improve the ability to rally, proper positioning to the ball, stroke technique, footwork, shot placement and overall consistency. Will emphasize grips, stroke technique and production (groundstrokes, volleys, overheads, serves, return of serves), footwork, and the ability to rally and play points.
Intermediate Familiar with all the major strokes, scoring, positioning, singles & doubles. Able to hit all major strokes but needs to improve overall technique, shot consistency and movement to return faster paced shots. Will stress stroke consistency in technique and mechanics, placement, depth, spin, serve, return of serve, strategy, footwork, and point/match play.
Advanced Intermediate Experienced in point and match play with the ability to hit all major strokes with solid technique, power and depth. Can maintain a rally and return hard hit shots with a good level of placement and consistency. Will target ground stroke patterns, serve, return of serve, consistency, placement, depth, spins, strategy, footwork, and point/match play.
Advanced * For competitive school Team, USTA, & UTR Tournament players only. Able to move & position quickly to the ball with the ability to hit all major strokes with consistent power, placement, depth & spin. Contact Us Will focus on serve, return of serve, groundstrokes, shot selection, strategy and singles and doubles match play.
Advanced & all other levels We recommend competitive middle school, high school and/or USTA/UTR tournament players take private lessons. Also open to all other levels ages 7 and up. See Private Lessons page for details. Individualized instruction geared toward improving specific parts of your game in order to play at a higher level.
